Alphabet Street
Eschewing the usual Thai restaurant accoutrements means that Alphabet Street stands out for its great food rather than its décor.
Instead of the usual southeast Asian influence, the fit-out here is minimalist and almost industrial with exposed pipes and concrete floors, softened by the kitsch touch of Astroturf out front and the wall of faux greenery behind the bar.
Right at the beach end of Kingsway, opposite Dunningham Park and with an almost-on-the-sand location means it’s a great spot to enjoy a drink before moving on to betel leaf entrees and 72-hour slow cooked beef cheek with morning glory.
