NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian today unveiled the planned route for the first stage of a Parramatta Light Rail project. The proposed 12-kilometre route will connect Carlingford to Westmead Hospital, via the Parramatta CBD.

According to Sydney Morning Herald, the Premier has already come under fire from Opposition Leader Luke Foley for leaving the Sydney Olympic Park out of stage one. The Premier asserted that she understands public transport around the park is a “major issue”.

Stage one of the proposed light rail project is flagged for completion by 2023. Stage two is under consideration.
