Thirteen beaches on Sydney’s east coast, from Bondi Beach to Cronulla, have been closed by authorities as they search the area following a fatal shark attack at Little Bay Beach yesterday.
The as yet unnamed man died shortly after 4.30pm on Wednesday February 16 in Sydney’s first fatal shark attack since 1963. Witnesses said the attack took place at the northern end of the beach, near the rocks at Buchan Point.
Authorities are advising people to stay out of the water today, even in the hot weather. Temperatures will hit 31 degrees today.

SIGN UPSurf lifesavers are searching for the shark, which is estimated to be four to five metres long. Police continue to look for more human remains.
Bondi, Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly, South Maroubra, Little Bay, Malabar/Long Bay, La Perouse are all closed until further notice.
