A head-on collision in the Sydney Airport Tunnel early this morning has caused severe congestion around Mascot. One person has died and four more are seriously injured.
Transport for NSW reports that traffic is banked up for up to seven kilometres, as General Holmes Drive is closed southbound from Wentworth Avenue. Diversions are in place on Southern Cross Drive and Wentworth Avenue. One citybound lane is also closed. It’s recommended that those travelling to the airport catch trains on the T8 Airport and South train line.
Buses in the Mascot area are currently delayed by up to 40 minutes, and those in Kogarah by up to 25 minutes, with diversions in place for Route 303, from Redfern to San Souci.
