The fabulous Maxi Shields – one of Australia’s best-known drag performers and actors – is the best part of this photo series shot among rainbow-painted platforms outside the MLC Centre in Martin Place.

The bollards – which will be on display for the 2018 Sydney Mardi Gras until Monday March 5 – were built by property-management companies GPT Group and Dexus, which jointly own the Martin Place building.

The stairs, on Martin Place between George and Castlereagh streets, are there to show support for GPT’s LGBTI Awareness & Diversity network (GLAD), which promotes workplace inclusion and networking for LGBTQI employees. Its tagline is: “Bring your whole self to work.” We suggest bringing your whole self to one of these stair-stages for an Insta-ready photo shoot, just like Maxi Shields has.
