A 249-Metre-High Observation Deck With 180-Degree Views of Sydney Has Opened – And It’s Free to Visit

If you’ve ever wondered what the views are like from the heights of Sydney’s tallest building – the Crown tower in Barangaroo – but don’t want to fork out for a penthouse or hotel room, your wondering days are over. This Saturday, February 26, an observation deck will open on level 83 of the formidable building. Named Sky Deck, it’ll have 180-degree views of the city and beyond. And it’s completely free.
The experience begins outside Il Caffe, on the ground floor of the tower. Visitors will be skyrocketed 249 metres above ground level via elevator, where a short video about the history of Barangaroo will play. After it’s done, curtains will part and reveal Sky Deck and its sublime views, as well as an open-air balcony for (truly) next-level photos.
From your perch atop the glass-and-steel skyscraper, you’ll be able to spy Sydney’s cityscape, including the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, and enjoy outlooks across the harbour and, on clear days, to Manly Beach and North Head.
A publicly accessible observation deck was a condition set by the Planning Assessment Commission when it approved the Crown precinct in 2016. Six tours of Sky Deck will run every day, with the first beginning at sunrise and the last starting at sunset. Reservations will be released monthly.
Sky Deck at Crown Sydney opens on February 26, 2022.
