The M5 East has been closed between Mascot and Beverly Hills (in both directions) due to a major power failure. The light rail is also closed between Dulwich Hill.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

Crews are currently investigating the cause of the outage, which began at about 3.55pm today.

Cars are being deterred from the M5 at General Holmes Drive and King Georges Road, and will be diverted through General Holmes Drive, Bestic Street, West Botany Street, Forest Road, Stoney Creek Road and King Georges Road.
