The NSW Government has updated its mask restrictions, following two new Covid-19 case diagnoses in the past 24 hours. From 4pm today, those in seven local government areas – the City of Sydney, Waverley, Randwick, Canada Bay, Inner West, Bayside and Woollahra – will be required to wear masks in all indoor public settings, in addition to on public transport. Those settings include stores, theatres and aged-care facilities; front-of house hospitality will also need to start wearing masks again.
The government has also extended the mask mandate for public transport – which previously only applied to Greater Sydney and the Blue Mountains – to now include Shellharbour and Wollongong.
For now, the mask restrictions will remain in place until 12.01am on Thursday – but premier Gladys Berejiklian has said that could change, and restrictions could tighten, if the situation changes overnight.
Masks in public indoor settings in the City of Sydney, Waverley, Randwick, Canada Bay, Inner West, Bayside and Woollahra will be compulsory from 4pm today. Find the latest Covid-19 updates for NSW here.
