Residents of NSW are set to get two extra Dine & Discover vouchers this summer, in an effort to boost the economy post-lockdown. This time around, you’ll receive one $25 voucher for dining out and another $25 voucher to use at venues such as cinemas, zoos and bowling alleys, as well as some theatre shows, musicals and even the Sydney Film Festival.
The news comes after the government announced during lockdown that the expiry of the four existing Dine & Discover vouchers would be extended until the end of June 2022.
“We experienced the success of the Dine & Discover program when we reopened last time, which is why we are doubling down efforts with an additional two $25 vouchers – one for ‘dine’ and one for ‘discover’ venues,” said NSW treasurer Matt Kean in a statement.
Those who have registered for the existing Dine & Discover program will have their vouchers automatically delivered to their Service NSW app. They will arrive in time for summer, but a specific date hasn’t yet been confirmed. If you’re 18 years and over and haven’t applied yet, you can do so until the end of June next year and still receive all six $25 vouchers.
Since the program’s launch last year, nearly 4.8 million people have applied for the vouchers, and $430 million has been injected into the economy. The vouchers can be used seven days a week at any participating business; they can’t be used for alcohol, gambling or tobacco.
The government will soon release more information about the scheme on the Service NSW website.
