There’s an In-Store Bread Warmer, Pick-and-Mix Dog Treats and a Mochi Bar at Coles Local’s New Earlwood Store

Coles has unveiled another store under its Local brand, this time in the south-west Sydney suburb of Earlwood. The store, which has been rebranded and updated from a regular Coles supermarket to the group’s Coles Local concept, is nodding to the area’s big local Greek community – and its smaller Italian population – with a dedicated “Mediterranean” section stocked with more than 200 products, including olives, oils, sardines, dips and antipasto, as well as fresh pasta customers can buy by weight.
Fourth-generation family bakery Nonna’s Bakehouse, based in Wetherill Park, is supplying Italian-style bread from a recipe that’s travelled from the southern mountains of Italy, and there are also goods from Sydney bakeries Baked & Co and Sonoma. Coles Local Earlwood is the first Sydney store to have an in-store bread warmer.
There’s also single serve ice-cream from a frozen dessert bar, as well as mochi, macarons and gelato. And a frozen fruit station lets customers scoop their own strawberries, pineapple, blueberries and mango. You’ll also find a pick-and-mix dog treat bar, and coffee and juice stations.
The new store is also working with Redcycle to help locals recycle their plastic packaging and food rescue organisation Secondbite to reduce food waste.
The Earlwood supermarket joins other Coles Local stores in Rose Bay, Chatswood, Manly and the CBD.
Coles Local Earlwood is now open at 15 Clarke Street, Earlwood, from 6am–11pm daily.
