More than 40 firefighters and 10 trucks were called to Mosman Rowers this morning to fight a fire.

Fire and Rescue said on Twitter large volumes of smoke were billowing from the three-level harbourside building, but everyone is accounted for.

Mosman Rowers released a statement on Facebook saying no one has been hurt and everyone was evacuated. "It was an isolated incident involving the fireplace on the cafe level. We will repair as soon as possible and get our beloved Club reopen [sic]. The brilliant Fire Services of NSW have been onsite and controlled the fire. They are leaving now."

The Mosman Daily reports two men from the marine and the Mosman Rowers's general manager started hosing down the blaze before the firefights arrived.

“Two guys from the marina next door jumped in a little rowing boat with a hose and they hosed it from the outside from the [harbour] as we had to evacuate the building,” club president Kathrina Doran.

Mosman Rowers is one of Sydney’s oldest sports clubs and reopened only last month under the Bird and Bear group after a renovation. Before that it fell into disrepair following financial and lease issues.

It also said on Facebook it we will be closed until further notice.

Mosman Collective caught the incident on Instagram.
