Coronavirus restrictions will be eased once again from 12.01am this Friday, February 26. New South Wales premier Gladys Berejiklian announced this morning that from Friday, households will be allowed to have 50 visitors in their homes. Previous restrictions that permitted only specific people at a wedding to dance have been wound back; now, up to 30 people will be allowed to rotate on and off the dancefloor.
Up to 50 people will be allowed in gym classes – but must still adhere to the four-square-metre rule. And 30 people – up from five – will be permitted to sing indoors, while congregants in places of worship will be allowed to sing, as long as they are wearing face masks. Plus, cinemas can return to 100 per cent capacity.
Berejiklian also flagged that restrictions will be further eased in three weeks, if locally acquired case numbers don't rise again. From March 17, standing while drinking indoors should be permitted, and 300 people will be allowed at weddings.
"With the rollout of the vaccine now underway, and no new locally acquired cases in NSW, we are able to make further changes towards a new Covid normal," said Berejiklian.
