The NSW government has announced the temporary closure of Bondi Beach after enormous crowds flocked to the Sydney icon even amid social-distancing guidelines.
"The move was ordered by Police and Emergency Services Minister David Elliott," according to the ABC.
The Federal Health Minister called the crowding seen yesterday at the beach "unacceptable". Further beach closures could occur if social distancing directives continue to be defied by the public.
The Australian government has banned non-essential public gatherings of more than 500 people in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus.
