Klink Handmade Espresso
Features
For all the excellent coffee taken for granted in the inner city suburbs, there’s nowhere near a similar frequency of great cafes in the CBD. It makes you appreciate your cup a little more when you eventually find one.
Klink is sure to snare your appreciation. Tucked away from the frenetic pace of the city, it merges and melds into the rooms on the ground floor of Gaffa Gallery. Comprising a large takeaway window out the front and limited dine-in real estate – which spills through the gallery’s front rooms and arcade spaces (the former jail cells of this ex-police station), it’s a striking and creative use of space.
If you’re like all the other customers, you’re coming here for the coffee above all else. The house blend is served by way of Golden Cobra, and is a rich, syrupy affair. But there always seems to be an unexpected single origin squirreled away behind the counter, usually from some far-flung plantation. With only about a dozen items on the menu, the food is decidedly simple, but uses excellent ingredients and is freshly made. Lunch here makes a nice respite from all the food court fare.
Whether you manage to grab a seat or takeaway, Klink can be a true oasis in the midst of a working day.
