Good tea is like fine wine: there’s a whole spectrum of flavours and a variety of tasting notes. Not convinced? Get yourself down to a free tea tasting at Zensation Tea House. Here, inquisitive tea drinkers can sample an array of specialist brews served alongside yum cha, which has been specially paired to each tea. Try a plate of Shanghai dumplings, to match the vintage pu-erh tea, or a sweet egg custard tart to complement a cup of milky oolong.

Echoing the stylings of a 1920s Shanghai teahouse, there’s tea paraphernalia on every ledge, shelf and countertop at Zensation. Father and daughter team Christina and Raymond Leung set up Zensation five years ago with the vision of creating a tea sanctuary as an escape from everyday life.

Try the silver needle tea, milky oolong and aged pu-erh teacake varieties, while there’s even a ‘palate cleanser’ in the form of a hibiscus iced tea. But the pièce de résistance is the blossoming bouquet tea – a hand-sewn masterpiece comprising lily, amaranth and jasmine elements, which, when steeped, opens up to take the shape of a flower. You can purchase all the teas you’ve tried from Zensation’s onsite shop, whether it’s to relax, detox or awaken.
