The Wedge Espresso
The Wedge has been a standout in Sydney’s specialty coffee scene since opening in 2011. Situated on Cowper Street, away from the buzz of Glebe Point Road, husband-and-wife owners Cat and Davide Isola have spun the small, sliver of space into a relaxing coffee refuge.
Five Senses provides the house espresso blend, and single origin beans are supplied by various guest roasters on a rotating basis. There’s also cold drip, cold, tea-like Elixir Specialty Coffee and teas by Teacraft.
Try the breakfast plate with dukkah-crusted poached eggs, wilted kale, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado and feta. For lunch, the famous Henry with smoked ham, egg, avocado, chipotle mayonnaise and cheddar on panini. There are also plenty of gluten-, dairy- and refined sugar-free options that don’t compromise on taste, plus a blackboard for daily specials.
The cafe features large, fold-out windows allowing for a streetside sit, and a cushion-and-crate corner which catches the sun. It’s a perfect space to wedge yourself with a coffee and a creative dish.
