Features
The sun-drenched forecourt of the Museum of Sydney is where you’ll find This Way Canteen, a canteen-style lunch spot from House Made Hospitality (Hinchcliff House). The menu is designed for an easy dine-in brekkie or lunch, and also offers plenty of takeaway-ready options, including choose-your-own-adventure salads, pastries and doughnuts.
But really, it’s all about the sandwiches here, made on focaccia baked at Grana down the road. The staples include salad, roast pork and a classic chicken schnitzel number. Otherwise, keep an eye on the venue's socials for the weekly sandwich special.
The canteen’s fit-out – the work of interior designer Vicki Punch – is mostly neutral. The cork floor is a nod to department store cafeterias from the ’50s and ’60s, and the browns and greys are inspired by Aussie gum trees. The seating, a collection of high and low tables, spills out to the forecourt.
