Little Mule is bringing Campos coffee and a great sandwich menu to Stanmore, like the good pack animal it’s named after.

Chef and owner Liz Condon had been planning to open her own place for about seven years before she found the site, sitting patiently on a corner opposite Stanmore train station.

Little Mule is drawing a steady stream of locals for coffee and a friendly menu of house-made baked maple granola, or egg and bacon rolls for breakfast, and lunches of Moroccan soup of the day and delicious hot sandwiches.

Distressed brick walls, a corrugated iron coffee counter, glossy black tiles and a peephole through to the kitchen make for a cosy and relaxed spot. And the name is what Condon's father calls her - a family term of endearment. She's since discovered that mules are also used to transport coffee in Columbia, which is the inspiration behind the cute mural adorning the cafe wall.
