At St. Honoré you're surrounded by glass cabinets of multicoloured macarons, spreads of sourdough and mountains of multigrain loaves. Kick back in the French inspired, cafeteria-like surrounds without a care in the world.
Order a fresh escargot scroll at the counter and browse the coffee menu, which offers diagrammed explanations of the difference between a piccolo, flat white or latte. The beans are by 5 Senses and make a great treat with a golden, flaky croissant, or as a lunchtime chaser to a croque monsieur or potato rosti with smoked salmon.
The cakes have a reputation all of their own. The displays are mouth-watering and might include mixed berry mousse, black forest or NY cheesecake.
They work to a French bakery tradition here and you can peer into the kitchen to see the huge bank of ovens working overtime in the morning. Come Easter, you better get in early for your buns, because by midday you’ll be lucky if even the crumbs are left. There’s plenty of space for the yummy-mummy set here, so don’t be surprised if you’re navigating past a flurry of prams on a weekend.
