Mosman might have a plethora of places to stop for a spot of coffee, but what it has been lacking is a place that doesn’t just serve the coffee, but roasts it to their own specs too. Enter The Source, originally brought to you by coffee guy Russell Beard, with a focus on small lots and origins.

Beard has since moved on but The Source is still packing them in. The space can be tight on a bustling weekend, but that doesn’t stop locals placing an order then browsing the paper at the counter while they wait. One end of the room is dominated by the well-loved Renegade roaster, while coffee plants turn up here and there and updated chalkboards herald the different brews on offer and what you can expect from each.

There are cosy little tables for inimtate coffee catch-ups or the larger share table, perfect for hanging out or waiting for your takeaway. Wooden floors and retro wall prints add coffee tones to the décor and a few street-side perches make the most of the morning sun.

Filled sandwiches line the display cases, while breakfast options might include artfully presented Bircher or flaky, fresh pastries. Keep an eye out for clover options – but by far the winners are still the usual espresso suspects. Sure, Mosman has a few good cafes, but The Source serves excellent coffee as well.
