Nestled on a corner of Darlinghurst Road, the compact yet picturesque Royal cafe features tall, open windows with a great view onto the street. It includes a convenient coffee window for those on the go, while also featuring alfresco dining, weathered brown leather seats and small circular tables big enough for two.
The best and most important part, of course, is the menu. It may be small, but it’s certainly eclectic, serving dishes such as banana bread with passionfruit butter, shakshuka baked eggs with Persian feta and spice, and their signature beef burger with pickles and provolone.
Since they serve an all-day breakfast, why not try the buttermilk pikelets topped with a creamy dollop of mascarpone, soft poached quince, pomegranate and a drizzle of honey? What’s not to love?
