Room Two Ten
If you can’t get a water view in Freshwater, why not create your own? Cafe Room Two Ten did just this from an arcade on Lawrence Street when it wallpapered the back part of the cafe in a gorgeous garden vista. The rest of the space lives up to the theme, with pressed-tin details, fresh white tiling on the bar, hanging baskets of greenery, water coolers flavoured with citrus or strawberry and an array of comfy lounges.
You can settle into one of these for breakfast or lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Start your day with fluffy ricotta pancakes with banana and maple syrup, or the belt-busting big breakfast with sides such as black pudding, grilled haloumi and chorizo.
Lunch is salt-and-pepper squid, lamb-shank pie and shredded pork burgers. There are also share plate options filled with pickled eggs, chutney and cheeses. Room Two Ten serves beers, cider and a full range of wines. If you’re after something sweet, there’s Ghana red hot chocolate, mint-slice or salted-caramel milkshakes and coffee is by Toby’s Estate.
