Parlour Lane Roasters
Set on the ground level of the QT Sydney boutique hotel, Parlour Lane Roasters is, depending when you visit, a Euro-style cafe or aperitivo wine bar. In the morning, it services CBD workers and shoppers with their morning brew and a selection of pastries and casual bites. Think gravlax tartare with boiled egg or oven-baked buffalo mozzarella, gruyere, ham and tomato melt.
As lunchtime approaches, the menu – designed by creative food director Robert Marchetti – adds focaccia pizzas (with spelt options for gluten-free pizza fans), meatballs with roast tomatoes, minestrone and a selection of sandwiches.
Come late afternoon, the transformation is complete as the drinks list (by Ian Cook of Five Ways Cellars) comes to the fore. During aperitivo hour (5pm–7pm), enjoy complimentary focaccia and olives alongside a selection of wines, barrel-aged vodkas, negronis or Prosecco.
Parlour Lane’s appeal is not limited to its adaptability – the space itself serves as the main access point to the hotel and is something to behold. The decorative ceilings echo the beauty of the neighbouring State Theatre and art installations sit in hexagonal display cases in the centre of the space, restored to their former glory. For fans of coffee, wine, art or all of the above, there is much to love about Parlour Lane.
