Lucien Baked Goods
Features
Lucien Baked Goods is a bright all-day bakery from the team behind Circa Espresso, one of Sydney’s first new-wave cafes and a firm favourite in the Parramatta CBD.
In contrast to Circa’s homey thrown-together feel, Lucien features clean, modern lines, with warm, earthy tones of natural wood, and daylight flooding the space thanks to the venue’s floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
A range of treats is baked on-site daily, including breads such as sourdough, focaccia, baguettes and brioche, as well as a selection of ready-to-go sweet and savoury baked goods. To satisfy the sweet tooth, there are croissants, canelés and a banoffee choux filled with Chantilly cream, chocolate ganache and caramel. Cakes such as the raspberry and almond Persian love cake with rose water, pistachio praline and fresh berries, come whole or by the slice.
For something more savoury, there’s a danish of smoked ham, cheese, onion jam and bechamel loaded with shavings of pecorino, as well as a leek and goat’s cheese tart. Naturally, coffee is Circa’s house-roasted beans served in mugs handmade by ceramic artist Malcolm Greenwood.
There’s also a small all-day menu heavy on the Middle Eastern flavours Circa regulars would recognise. Past highlights include za’atar-crusted avocado with saltbush focaccia and citrus spring greens, and a classic take on the ham, cheese and tomato sandwich, with pickles and mustard between house-baked seeded brioche. There’s also a simplified version of Circa’s signature Ottoman eggs with roasted eggplant, soft-boiled eggs, garlic labneh and focaccia.
