Kingswood – a specialty-coffee shop – uses a Steadfast blend from Sensory Lab for milk-based coffees, plus a range of guest roasters changing each month for espresso and filter coffees. Cold-drip coffee is also offer. If you’re a keen home coffee maker, you can purchase specialty coffee beans by the bag at Kingswood, with a changing selection including Marvel Street from Bryon Bay, and Proud Mary from Melbourne.

Sydney-based designer Tamsin Johnson, also responsible for the interiors of Bondi’s Mr. Moustache and CBD bar Mr Tipply’s, has now added Kingswood to her list. Johnson has infused an old-fashioned feel into the space, inspired by the original World Square building, and highlighted with wood and polished brass.

To eat there is pastry from Penny Fours, sourdough from Brickfields and cronuts from Brewtown Newtown. Belgian chocolate is melted into mochas and hot chocolates, and poured over waffles at Kingswood. Several toastie options are available, with fillings provided by Salt Meats Cheese. These include double-smoked leg ham with gruyere and mustard mayonnaise; fennel salami with buffalo mozzarella and tomato chutney; as well as a three-cheese option. If you’re a chai fan you’re also in luck – there is an aromatic, homemade concoction which is brewed for eight hours and then combined with steamed milk.
