Chris Lu and Adam Choker (of Happy as Larry food truck) have a thing for shopping centres. After opening the first Flower Child at Westfield Chatswood, they replicated the indoor garden concept here in early 2017.

Acme&Co. is also behind the design of this one, though there are some differences. A curved, whitewashed wall inset with windows and shutters encloses the whole site, giving it a distinct seaside feel that reflects the northern beaches location. This is a deliberate contrast with the stark, fluorescent atmosphere of the shopping centre.

Many of Chatswood’s photogenic dishes made the leap to here, including the Flower Child French Toast, with banana mascarpone, dark-chocolate crumb, fresh berries and salted toffee. Equally Instagram-worthy is the deceptively simple-sounding fruit salad, which includes compressed pineapple, lychee, freeze-dried raspberries and yoghurt sorbet.

Some menu items, such as burgers, sandwiches and acai bowls, are available to takeaway. Pastries, bread and coffee (including cold drip and pour-over) are by The Grounds of Alexandria, which Choker’s brother Ramzey runs.
