The Fine Food Store Coffee Bar
The Fine Food Store Coffee Bar is a little bit of Rocks charm in Darlinghurst. This espresso bar and corner cafe is an extension of The Fine Food Store eatery and delicatessen, and while the flagship is housed on the corner of a cobblestone laneway in the city’s historic quarter, you’ll find its equally charming sister space on the corner of Oxford and Crown Streets.
The Fine Food Store Coffee Bar has taken the place of Christopher’s Flowers, replacing pots and planter boxes with Melbourne’s Sensory Lab roast and a host of fresh and hearty breakfast and lunch staples to eat in or take away. There is spelt granola with poached berries and a vine ripened tomato and avocado toastie for breakfast. Then sandwiches, wraps, salads, and lamb chorizo or pork and veal sausage rolls at lunch.
In the cafe, pale lime-washed weatherboard is matched to beech-hued timber, and during the refurbishment of the space, the original ornate pressed-tin ceiling has been exposed. The nook-sized cafe is a calming escape from the drone of traffic and the bustle outside, where you can perch by a window bench, coffee in hand, and survey the endless passers by.
