Cre Asion is a petite, eight-seat teahouse with a sleek Japanese-inspired fit-out. Yu Sasaki opened the cafe in winter 2011. It quickly garnered a cult following. It’s no wonder, considering the inspired menu of sweets, all made on site.
Imagine any flavour and chances are chef Sasaki has put it in a soft, melt-in-your-mouth macaron. He’s tried beetroot and balsamic vinegar, bamboo charcoal and sesame, and fennel and lemon since opening, changing the menu daily to suit his creative mood. Traditional flavours such as coffee, French vanilla and mandarin are also on the menu and are completely free of artificial flavours.
Bringing a little of his homeland to Sydney, Sasaki sources all his tea from his hometown in the Shimane Prefecture, on the Sea of Japan coast. High-quality sencha, toasted green, herbal and French teas are all on the menu.
