Buzzbar’s narrow facade is deceptive, never giving a clue to just how large and deep the interior actually is. The cavernous, warmly lit space offers some respite from a day of wandering through Newtown, but its tendency to stay open until late in the evening also makes it a haven for restless night owls or those winding down from a concert high at the Enmore Theatre.
It’s rare to come across a hot drinks list that suggests coffee liqueur cocktails in the same breath as pots of green or ginger tea, but it’s a perfect example of how varied the menu is. Because Buzzbar is a blend of cafe, bar and quasi-restaurant, you can order big breakfasts, share plates, generous main meals and any kind of drink whether hot, cold or boozy.
That said, this place is exalted for its wide selection of cakes — which span flourless chocolate muffins, lavender walnut honey cake and berry flan — so it’s well worth leaving room for any one of them.
Buzzbar’s any-meal-anytime appeal is practically designed for large groups with disparate dining desires, but its laidback atmosphere is welcoming enough to encourage lone diners to settle in at a table for one.
