The Bogey Hole Cafe

Named after Bronte’s famous rock pool, the Bogey Hole Cafe is a beachside favourite. Housed in a beautiful old shop with huge bay windows giving fantastic views of the beach, the cafe, has a number of seats inside and spilling down the street, which these days is packed to the rafters with tables and chairs.

One of the first to open along the now congested strip, The Bogey Hole’s original charm has been lovingly maintained with a uniquestained glass window perched over the huge, purple double doors and aqua green walls displaying an old ornate mirror, blackboards listing the day’s specials and the obligatory beach scene paintings. In the middle of the café, the large marble-topped counter holds a sweet spread of homemade cakes and cookies, right at nose level.

The menu is simple but just right for its beachside locale, offering a good range of breakfast options, salads and sandwiches such as the roasted pork belly roll sandwich and larger dishes like lamb fillet with pea and mint puree and fetta. A small wine and beer list is etched onto one of the blackboards and coffee and organic teas come courtesy of Toby’s Estate.

And considering its proximity to the beach, not to mention its cracking views, this is just the kind of place you want to perch along the Bronte beach strip.
