Features
There’s nothing like an early-morning dip in the ocean to feel refreshed and mighty hungry. Melissa and her brother Marcus Svinos won a tender to install a cafe in a shed which was once used for storage by the Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club. Right on the edge of the Esplanade, you can walk across the sand of Dee Why beach straight into the The Beach Shed. It is casual, relaxed and sandy feet are allowed, providing a space for locals to congregate.
Beans on the brew are from Daily Grind and the food is the kind that carries on that post-swim buzz: quinoa bircher muesli, smashed eggs with avocado, roast tomatoes and feta on sourdough, with the occasional American hotdog thrown in. If you are an early riser, it’s one of the best spots around to see the sunrise.
