67 Union Street Deli
The deli on 67 Union Street in McMahon's Point is full of fresh produce, take-away sandwiches and Single Origin Roasters coffee. There are also plenty of options on the menu for breakfast and lunch.
Owners Gareth Elliot and his partner Emily Witte, both originally of The Boathouse in Palm Beach, describe 67 Union Street Deli as a modern take on a delicatessen.
The old deli space in McMahon’s Point is perfect; with elegant surroundings, a two-level structure and an established following. For Elliot, it also provides an exciting opportunity to cater for the local need on the lower north shore.
Everything on display in the space is for sale. That includes the heirloom tomatoes and exotic fruits in the deli fridge, the succulents and flowers on the bench and the hanging teapots, bunting, napkins and tea towels by Pony Rider.
The menu is affordable and interesting, put together by Spanish Chef Brenton Gomez, also from Boathouse, and will adapt to the seasons. Brioche bacon-and-egg rolls are served with a flavoursome aioli and the granola comes in a jar with fresh berries.
The menu varies on weekdays to weekends. Monday to Friday, pick up your takeaway coffee from the front window and swing past for a deli sandwich to eat in Blues Point or Waverton Park. Weekends are made for lingering and there is a kids’ room and space for groups and families as well as stools at the front and a veranda.
