Set within a warehouse in Brookvale, Freshwater Brewing Company’s pastel-hued taproom and restaurant is a major stop on the area’s popular brewery crawl. Inside you’ll find easy-drinking brews, alongside dishes that are the perfect foil for a crisp beer.

Pouring on tap are six rotating options, which the company first started brewing in 2021. The place to start is the Freshie Pils, which is German-style and features European hops. For Corona fans, there’s the Wedge Cerveza, a Mexican-style corn lager brewed for hot days on the beach. Then there’s the Secrets Hazy Pale, which sports a strong, hoppy flavour.

No stress if beer’s not your thing – there's a spritz on tap, as well as a wine list featuring natural drops and a few classic options for good measure.

The food menu is just as approachable. After a morning in the surf you’ll be ready to tackle the giant fish finger sanga. Otherwise the ploughman's board is ideal for tackling a long afternoon of beer (or wine) tasting. Sausage rolls and barbeque prawn skewers are also on hand, and lean into the Aussie nostalgia factor.

The space’s beachy feel comes courtesy of potted palms; colourful chairs and pink-tiled tables; and a pink, horseshoe-shaped bar. If you come on the weekend, expect DJs from the afternoon – they’ll bring the good vibes.
