In the Christian creation story, God rested on the seventh day. For 7th Day Brewery founder Mike Beresford-Jones, brewing is his religion, though there’s little time for rest. He started homebrewing in his Curl Curl garage circa in an effort to produce an exemplary pilsner. With some crowdfunding and the help of eager locals, his garage lager bar moved into a spacious warehouse home in Brookvale’s industrial area in 2018.
On tap, you’ll find said pilsner, a crisp drop that’s taken home a swag of awards in its short life. You can also expect an XPA, a pale ale and a rotating cast of limited edition brews including a malt-heavy red IPA and a juicy New England IPA. Non-beer drinkers will find a selection of Aussie wines and a mid-strength hard lemonade called Lemonzilla.
The taproom itself is a trove of recycled timbers, nods to the local surfing culture and plenty of nooks to keep the kids entertained while the parents sip a cold one. If you’re chasing a feed, you’re well catered for by Italian neighbour Sale Pepe, with a range of woodfired pizzas and house-made pastas.
