Features
“Besa” is Spanish for “kiss”. This tapas bar from the group behind Aalia, Nour, Henrietta and Aalia Wine Room aims to give the kiss of life to Spanish cuisine in Sydney. Its influences come from across Spain, drawing particular inspiration from Madrid and the Basque region, which is fitting for Bondi’s coastal location.
Small plates are seafood-leaning, with mains going heavy on proteins and plenty more fish. These are paired with a lengthy Spanish-inspired cocktail list that riffs on Don Quixote, perhaps the most famous Spanish novel in history.
The interior features both modern and mid-century accents, blending both in a way that feels like a 1970’s vision of the future. Round booths are great for groups, and indirect lighting throughout helps the space feel moody and intimate.
