By the team behind Eau de Vie, The Roosevelt is a serious player on the Sydney cocktail scene. This premiere cocktail bar is tucked away in Potts Point at the site of the old French restaurant Apres and is the second offering by Sven Almenning and Graham Ette.
Named after a Kings Cross bar owned by the notorious 1940s gangster Abe Saffron, The Roosevelt is full of references to the Prohibition era. The well-to-do staff are dressed in suspenders and bow ties, the lighting is kept low and moody lamps adorn each table.
The Roosevelt certainly has that Old Hollywood style, and this shows in the extensive cocktail menu. All drinks are made at your table via the team's cocktail trolley with staff pouring fire and throwing liquid nitrogen before your eyes.
There's an extensive dinner menu featuring steaks, market fish and an array of share plates. This make The Roosevelt perfect both for quiet drinks or a ten person feast. Just make sure you book well ahead and turn up early, because it closes at midnight.
