Makaveli
Sitting pretty on Bondi’s Glenayr Avenue, Makaveli is a small bar and eatery with big energy and a solid day-to-night offering.
The 28-seat venue has your morning cuppa covered from 6am every day, with brews by Will and Co. Plus, turmeric lattes, iced matcha, and specials like Bloody Marys and collagen coffee by Bondi Protein Co.
If you’re here for breakfast or lunch, you’ll find baked goods from Clovelly’s Tuga Pastries and slabs of Brickfields focaccia, perhaps topped with mortadella, burrata and pistachio pesto.
There are also plenty of power sockets – a gamechanger for a suburb full of punters maximising surf sessions with WFH flex hours.
By night, it’s all about house cocktails including the smooth Makaveli Espresso, which combines a fresh shot of coffee and tequila. To eat, there are plates of snackable peppers or bresaola topped with artichokes. On the cheesy side of things it might be burrata and greens, ricotta with roasted grapes, or taleggio croquettes. Make sure you don’t skip the bread, to save missing a umami whip of Vegemite butter.
A muted colour palette and lots of texture define the interiors, and Tamarama-based Porch Ceramics crafted those bespoke light fittings as well as off-white cups for morning coffees. Makaveli’s mood changes throughout the day, with the lights turning down low and the music shifting gears.
