With a professional team, a relaxed environment and a beautiful view of the hills at Apple Tree Flat, it's easy to see why Logan Wines’ cellar door experience has won awards.
Peter Logan and his late father Mal started the company in 1997. They spent the first few years growing grapes in Orange and transporting them to Mudgee for processing. Now Logan Wines has vineyards in both locations, and uses the two areas to produce varietals that complement their respective terroirs.
There are four ranges, distinguishable by their intricate labels. Bottles range from $12 to $45 and span at least 10 varietals. There are classic Aussie grapes such as riesling and shiraz, through to more novel imports such as tempranillo and gewürztraminer.
Logan Wines is one of the biggest wineries in the region, but still likes to experiment with different wine-making practices. One of its newest labels, Clementine, is named for Peter’s daughter and influenced by the traditions of Northern Italy and Slovenia.
Whatever the weather, your tasting experience will feel luxurious with several different spaces in the cellar door all offering superb views of the vines. Make time in your itinerary to buy a bottle and enjoy it with a cheese platter on the lounge.
