Features
When it opened in May 2025, Bar Herbs was called Herbs Taverne – and its focus was on Negronis. Later on that year, they broadened the remit. Now it’s Bar Herbs. If it takes after any of its siblings in the Mucho Group, which includes Cantina Ok and Centro 86, it’s Bar Planet – the crew’s hugely popular Newtown Martini bar.
Fans of the space when it was Herbs Taverne will be pleased to find that it hasn’t changed too much. The disco ball, retro metal blinds, black-and-red chequerboards on the ceiling and underfoot, trippy mirrors by Steady Hand Studio and a skinny little counter wrapping around the entire venue are all still there.
The cheesy – and free – popcorn is still available, too. Plus, that Negroni hasn’t gone anywhere. But now it’s joined by a deep roster of cocktails from the Martini phylum, including Gibsons, Espresso Martinis and more. Cosmos and Gibsons are invited to the party too.
