Features
Paramount House has always exuded undeniable charm. The art deco icon is an elegant signpost of times gone by, resting at the intersection of Hunt, Commonwealth and Brisbane Streets. Today the building is the darling of Right Angle Studio’s Barton brothers, who have overseen the revival of the space and restored the basement theatrette into a sublime cinema and bar.
Programming is a healthy mix of old and recently released films, as well as those never before shown in Australia. Past highlights include Lena Dunham’s Tiny Furniture and Michele Gondry’s The We and the I. The adjoining bar serves cocktails alongside snacks and large plates (deli selections, toasties, pastas), and hosts emerging acts on the intimate golden stage.
