With the addition of Canadian chef Eli Challenger, and a love of simplicity and local ingredients, there are a series of old favourites and seasonal dishes on the menu at Fat Rupert’s. The bar is famous for its Yeezy Burgers, a plate of house-ground beef sliders on tiny brioche buns with chipotle mayo. In addition, seasonal choices such as fried green tomatoes with endive and char-grilled cauliflower on a homemade hummus sprinkled with pecorino and parsley rotate through.
Creativity in the kitchen isn’t Fat Rupert’s only calling. Since early this year, bartender Sean Duncan has been building the drink offering. After a journey through the wine regions of Europe, Duncan discovered his love of wine and brought this to Fat Rupert’s list of local and non-local options. It’s this list which Duncan hopes will educate wine drinkers to love more than just their local, go-to drops.
Challenger and Duncan work together to pair food and drink and highlight the best daily produce. In addition to the extensive wine list, Duncan is constantly dreaming up new cocktail creations.
Fat Rupert’s will host a series of weekly and monthly events, including Duncan’s educational wine pairing with the bar’s popular tasting menu, and the return of Ruby’s BBQ on the first Sunday of each month.
