Door Knock Bar
**Opening mid-November, 2017
Nordic-inspired restaurant Norsk Dor has been taken over by new management. It will soon be transformed into a cocktail and wine bar called Door Knock. The new team is led by former Australian World Class ambassador Natalie Ng.
At 70 Pitt Street there’s a nondescript silver door. There’s no visible signage out front. Next to it there’s a lock with a blue button. Press it and enter a long, eerie hallway. Keep going and you’ll arrive at a door with a pineapple doorknocker, which opens onto a cavernous cocktail bar. Now, you deserve a drink.
A lot of knowledge will be poured into the drinks here; Ng has a strong background in spirits. There will also be a large selection of natural wine and classic varietals.
Bar manager Jonathan Carr (ex-Kitty Hawk bar manager and former brand ambassador for Archie Rose) also has a tight cocktail background; he recently came second in this year’s Australian Bartender of the Year competition.
Sherry will be top shelf, served straight or in cocktails.
Vaulter Silver (former chef at Fratelli Fresh and Cucina) will serve a modern take on croquettes, fried chicken wings with daikon salt and plates of suckling pork belly.
Norsk Dor will close for a week in mid November, reopening as Door Knock at 70 Pitt Street, Sydney.
