Darlo Bar
If you're a resident of Darlinghurst, you'll know there's no shortage of great spots for a drink in your neighbourhood. Darlo was the epicentre of the small bar movement and to top it off, residents of the 2010 postcode also have one of the best locals going around.
Darlo Bar is a terrific corner pub. The public bar is a triangular room strewn with a variety of comfy seating options. Pool tables, fairy lights and a mellow soundtrack add to the experience. The tables and chairs out on Darlinghurst Road also serve as a popular spot for locals.
Upstairs, there’s an open-air space framed by royal-blue wall tiles. It’s serviced by a tiny bar that mixes playful cocktails such as the Tinder Surprise: vodka, Aperol, pineapple, lime, passionfruit and a secret ingredient. Unsurprisingly, this space gets busy real quick when the weather takes a turn for the better. Especially so on weekends, when DJs soundtrack the proceedings.
Elsewhere there are tap beers from Coopers, Batch, Young Henrys and Kosciuszko. They go nicely with the venue’s own Pie Sanga – aka a meat pie served in a white-bread sandwich. Otherwise, you can order in from local restaurants.
If you want to stay the night, Darlo Bar includes eight double rooms with shared bathrooms.
