The Corner Bar
Corner Bar has been kicking around the Rozelle end of Darling Street for a while now and it’s getting increasingly popular with locals and visitors alike. Owned by the same great foursome- Chris Joliffe, Ryan and Daniel Singer and Lindsay Egan, who run Cantina Bar – just a little further down the road – Corner Bar is warm and relaxed and a great addition to Rozelle.
As with Cantina Bar, Corner Bar is very much an all-hands-on-deck operation; from the design and interiors to the service, the four guys have been involved all the way through. The team have come from a background in larger group establishments, but it’s clear they’re passionate about smaller venues too. Their attention is on service and charm, which is apparent throughout the venue. Set on a corner, as the name suggests, the bar has a great mix of outdoor spots for a glass of rose in the warmer summer months and a warm and cosy interior, replete with a huge vat of organic wine sitting up on the bar, for when the weather turns.
There’s plenty to nibble on too. The antipasto share plate and the nacho pizza slab just can’t be beaten. The antipasto platter is huge compared to more conservative portions at a lot of other bars around Sydney and there is no chance that you’ll leave here hungry. A stein of fries will finish you off on the chance you’re still peckish, while the healthy wine menu will keep pretty much everyone happy. If you can’t find the perfect drop on the wine list, cocktails are reasonably priced at around $14, making Corner Bar the perfect venue for a quick snack and a drink, or a cosy, long night in.
