Bodega tapas restaurant and bar by chefs/owners Ben Millgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz is arguably one of Sydney’s best restaurants, despite being slightly out shadowed by its younger brother, Porteño.

Located on Commonwealth Street in Surry Hills, Bodega is a restaurant abuzz with colourful bulls and their matadors adorning the walls of the room as slick, tattooed staff roam the room to the sounds of loud rock ‘n’ roll.

Always bustling, guests can enjoy a drink at the adjoining bar or at outside tables before they dine. The drinks list offers an extensive selection of Spanish and South American wines, beers, sherry and a solid cocktail list.

The menu features a selection of traditional tapas including empanadas, olives, jamón and spiced calamari with aioli. There are also modern twists on originals such as the famous ‘fish fingers’ (sashimi kingfish on garlic toast) as well as Asian-inspired steamed pork belly and slow cooked lamb loin with roast garlic miso and eggplant.

Desserts are a feature here with sweet delight such as the retro banana split with cream flan, dulce de leche ice cream, ginger biscuit and banana, and a rich chocolate terrine with fresh fig, Cava jelly and yoghurt ice cream.

Bodega continues to be a cool Surry Hills classic.
