Neil Perry’s Double Bay dominion is set to expand with the arrival of Bobbie’s, a below-ground speakeasy moments from his gorgeous diner Margaret and adjacent bar, Next Door.

While that news alone is notable, what makes this even more impressive is the fact that Perry has tapped longtime collaborator Linden Pride – the man behind lauded New York bar Dante – to join him in the venture. Named after Pride’s grandfather (and legendary Australian broadcaster) Bob Rogers, it’ll sit below Perry’s other forthcoming venue, the Asian-inspired diner Song Bird, at 24 Bay Street.

Dante is part of the fabric of Greenwich Village, opening the doors in 1915 and eventually going to become a haunt for cultural titans such as Ernest Hemingway, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Jerry Seinfeld and more during its 100-year tenure in the bohemian enclave. Under the stewardship of Pride and partner Nathalie Hudson, Dante took out first place in the prestigious World’s 50 Best Bars awards in 2019.

Bobbie’s will open at 24 Bay Street in early 2024.
