Beer Cartel
Features
Beer Cartel started life as a specialist online beer retailer. The physical shop dates back to 2011, when founders Geoff Huens and Richard Kelsey took the helm of a Porter’s liquor store and began transforming it into one of Sydney’s best craft-beer destinations.
Beer Cartel now stocks in excess of 1000 beers, with a particular focus on lesser-known styles, such as sours, red ales and saisons. Clearly identified by country of origin, the international selection is expansive. Countries best represented include Belgium, New Zealand and the US, but you’ll also find beers from Japan, France and Germany.
There’s also a great range from Australian breweries, whether from Sydney locals such as Lord Nelson, Nomad and Rocks Brewing; or interstate breweries such as Holgate, Feral Brewing and Two Birds.
The store also stocks beer glasses, from pints to steins and chalices. Gift ideas include themed collections of beers, mixed dozens and a subscription to the shop’s beer club.
If getting in the car seems like too much hassle, check out Beer Cartel’s online store, which offers home delivery. You can search for beers by country, style or brewery.
