Sydney label magraw has won the coveted Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award at a ceremony at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF).
Launched by sisters Beth and Tessa MacGraw in 2012, the label beat four impressive contenders including Celeste Tesoriero, Kloke, Hokum and KACEY / DEVLIN.
It’s a major accomplishment for an independent designer. The prize includes return flights to New York to meet the Tiffany & Co. design team; a retail opportunity with Westfield Doncaster; legal support; lookbook styling assistance from Harper’s BAZAAR; and wide-reaching recognition.
Previous winners include PAGEANT, Romance Was Born, Yeojin Bae, MATICEVSKI, CHRISTOPHER ESBER, Josh Goot and STRATEAS.CARLUCCI, labels that have all gone on to make their marks locally and internationally.
macgraw’s designs have a fresh, modern femininity; its recent collections have a palette of white lace and pastel pinks offset by crisp black elements and hand-drawn prints.
