Attracting presenters and participants from around the world, this year’s Head On Photo Festival opens today (Friday May 4) and runs until June 3. Being the only photographic event of its kind in Australia, the festival comprises more than 200 events taking place at 100 locations around Sydney's north, south, east and west, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, TAFE Ultimo, the Australian Centre for Photography and the Bondi Pavilion.
Being such a unique event to Australia (not to mention the world’s second largest photography festival), Head On encompasses the Head On Portrait Prize and exhibition plus various other exhibitions and competitions, workshops, seminars and master classes, conducted by prominent international and Australian photographers.
Among the very special guests at the festival will be Magnum photographer, Burn magazine publisher and editor and respected industry voice, David Alan Harvey. In town for the world premiere of his latest exhibition based on a true story, Alan Harvey will also be running an intensive five-day workshop.
A photography festival that broadly celebrates an art form that’s consistently evolving, Head On astutely addresses today’s social and artistic issues and challenges, and confronts and rewards lovers of the lens.
Head On Photo Festival run from 4 May to June 3, 2012.
