Trying to nurture creativity in a commercial environment can sometimes seem counter-intuitive. But for Konrad Spilva, Managing Director of Isobar Australia, business is at its best when his 212 staff are at theirs.

“We believe in creating a great environment for our staff,” he says. “Time, space and flexibility are key to producing world-class work that clients love. Our team are our greatest investment.”

That investment includes a $1,200 annual education allowance for every team member, six half-days every year and an additional week of annual leave. “There’s also the 9:30am start each day. If people sleep in a little and enjoy a better run to work, they’ll arrive happier and more productive.”

With 69 connected offices across the world, the wanderlusts on the team have the opportunity to travel. “A senior experience designer has just transferred to our New York office,” Spilva says, “while others have enjoyed stints in London, Singapore, Tokyo and China.”

For Spilva, understanding the world is just part of the job. “In order for brands to connect with their customers, they need to make a better world; add something to it,” he says. “And at the end of the day, commercials aren’t going to do that. Creativity on the other hand, will.”

With their existing staff happy, business is healthy and Isobar are looking for more team members on Scout, our new jobs site.
